About the Author:

Baba Ram Dass, born Richard Alpert on April 6, 1931, in Boston, Massachusetts, initially gained recognition as a Harvard psychology professor alongside Timothy Leary. Their controversial experiments with psychedelics led to Alpert's dismissal from Harvard in 1963. Seeking spiritual meaning, he traveled to India in 1967, where he met Neem Karoli Baba, a Hindu guru, and underwent a profound spiritual transformation where he adopted the the name Baba Ram Dass, meaning "servant of God."Upon returning to the United States, Alpert, now Baba Ram Dass, became a spiritual teacher and author.

His seminal work, "Be Here Now" (1971), captured the essence of his spiritual journey and influenced a generation seeking alternative paths to consciousness. Ram Dass continued to write and teach, addressing topics such as mindful living, compassion, and the intersection of spirituality and psychology.He also founded the Seva Foundation, focusing on humanitarian and social service projects. His teachings emphasized the importance of love, compassion, and spiritual growth. "Be Here Now," reflected his spiritual evolution and encouraged mindfulness and self-discovery.
